Buffy Summers (Sarah Michelle Gellar)
The slayer of the show begins as a sophomore at Sunnydale High after being
kicked out of her old high school in Los Angeles. The slayer is responsible
for killing demons of all kinds. Every generation has one, and as soon as
one dies, another is called up. |
 |
Joyce Summers (Kristine Sutherland)
Buffy's mother. |
 |
Willow Rosenberg (Alyson Hannigan)
Willow, the brains of the "Scooby Gang," loves school and is great with
computers. She's a loyal friend to Buffy. Willow dabbles in witchcraft and
becomes a powerful witch as the series progresses. |
 |
Alexander Harris (Nicholas Brendon) 'Xander'
He's the goofball of Sunnydale and shares the same loyal qualities as his
best friend Willow. |
 |
Cordelia Chase (Charisma Carpenter)
This cheerleader is the epitome of the mean popular high school girl. "Cordy,"
while not attached to the "Scoobies," always finds herself in hair-raising
situations with the gang. |
 |
Angel/Angelus (David Boreanaz)
Angel is a vampire with a soul. He loses it briefly, and then gets it back.
He's also in love with the slayer. Angel becomes Angelus, his alter ego,
when he loses his soul, and becomes ruthless and bent on destroying the
world. |

Stewart Head)
Buffy's watcher, or slayer teacher. He's a skilled researcher of mystical
forces and the Sunnydale High's librarian while the gang is in school. |
 |
Spike (James Marsters)
Also called "William the Bloody." He starts out an evil vampire, but toward
the end of the series softens up and becomes sweet on Buffy. He once had a
chip in his head, which disabled his ability to hurt people. Eventually, he
gets his soul back. |
 |
Drusilla (Juliet Landau)
She's the evil vampire and Spike's girlfriend. She leaves him, tries to come
back, and is shot down by the love struck Spike. |
 |
Daniel "Oz" Osbourne (Seth Green)
Willow's love interest plays bass in a band and becomes a werewolf when
there's a full moon. |
 |
Anyanka "Anya" (Emma Caulfield)
She used to be a vengeance demon, granting wishes to scorned women. After
her power is taken away, she becomes more human and falls in love with
Xander. Their engagement ends and she kind of returns to her evil ways. |
 |
Faith (Eliza Dushku)
A free-spirited and eventually dangerous slayer, Faith is called up when
Kendra is killed by Drusilla. After several dangerous ploys to destroy the
Scoobies, Faith leaves -- only to come back a changed slayer who tries to
help Buffy save the world. |
 |
Mayor Richard Wilkins III (Harry Groener)
The mayor is obsessed with cleanliness and loathes germs. He completes a
series of nasty tasks to ascend into pure demon form on graduation day. |
 |
Tara Maclay (Amber Benson)
Willow's Wiccan friend later becomes her love interest. She's killed by a
stray bullet, which sparks a deadly tirade by Willow. |
 |
Riley Finn (Marc Blucas)
Buffy's commando boyfriend eventually skips town and leaves her when he gets
no love in return. |
 |
Dawn Summers (Michelle Trachtenberg)

her alter ego, who takes a more human approach to things. |
